Whether you have a late-model VW Beetle top that needs replacement or an older VW Bug top that you want to look different, there are tons of replacement VW convertible top choices out there. Since these cars are so popular, we at Replacement Convertible Tops knew we had to look at what’s hot this season.
For your VW Cabrio top replacement (the new Beetles), nothing beats original Volkswagen convertible top fabric: A5 German Cloth. It’s tough, stands the test of time, and comes in all of the original factory colors plus a couple of others that you might like better to show off your VW Bug top style.
Another option is the “Topless Convertible Top” from Robbins that is a bikini-style replacement VW convertible top. This covers your VW Beetle top, but has a center panel that zips out and rolls under so that you have a bra-style cover with your head in the breeze. Very cool.
When you’re looking at these A5 options, know that the difference between “German Cloth,” “Stayfast Cloth,” and “Twillfast Cloth” is very slight and mainly has to do with the color options. The original VW Beetle Top will be A5 German, but some colors do not hold well in German Cloth, so Stayfast and Twillfast are better VW Bug top options for those colors.
There are also some vinyl and heavy nylon-style options for VW Cabriolet top replacements and similar replacement convertible tops for most Volkswagen models. Whichever one you choose, make sure it has a good warranty or you’re probably wasting your money.
